Christo Kurisummoottil Thomas is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He leads the TRAIN (Trustworthy and Resilient AI for Networks) Lab, where his research focuses on the convergence of artificial intelligence, wireless communications, networking, and cybersecurity. His work aims to develop next-generation intelligent communication systems that can reason, adapt, and make decisions in complex environments.
Before joining WPI in 2025, Thomas was a postdoctoral researcher at Virginia Tech. He also held engineering positions at Intel, Broadcom, and Qualcomm, contributing to the development of 4G LTE and 5G wireless technologies. He earned his Ph.D. from EURECOM in France, with research focused on signal processing and next-generation wireless communications.
His current research explores trustworthy AI, semantic communications, foundation models for networking, cognitive wireless systems, and the mathematical foundations of reasoning-enabled machine intelligence. His work has applications in autonomous systems, smart cities, 6G wireless networks, spectrum sharing, and resilient cyber-physical infrastructure.
